DARING NEW CLOTHING LINE

DJs Milton Castro and Fermin Fernández merged their talents two years ago and created Thrust Apparel - a cutting-edge clothing line for men. In a year, the duo has managed to distribute their collection - made of eccentric T-shirts, polo shirts, hoodies and bags with a signature rocket logo - to Miami, Los Angeles and Europe.

“We get our inspiration from our friends in the creative industry and definitely the subway,” says Castro, a 33-year-old Washington Heights native. “Stand in the Union SquareThrust Apparel garments will be handmade in the Dominican Republic. With items like their politically incorrect shirt featuring the likeness of infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar, Castro and Fernández don’t deny that they sometimes purposely set out to shock people’s sensibilities. “We’re not political at all,” says Castro. “We just want to push boundaries creatively and make people think.”
