Los Grammys Latinos

Image“We'd like to thank the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for our nomination, our fans for their support because it is thanks to them that this sort of great things happen,” goes the release. “So much hard work and effort paid off,” said Wisin and Yandel, known as “Duo de la Historia,” concluded.

“We would also like to thank the producers who provided this album with high quality: Luny Tunes, Tainy Nesty, Nely, thank you very much for their support.” The seventh edition of the Latin Grammy Awards will take place on November 2 at the Madison Square Gardens in New York.

In other news, the Colombian singer Shakira leads the list of nominees for the 2006 Latin Grammy Awards with nominations in five categories, followed by Ricardo Arjona, Gustavo Cerati and Julieta Venegas with four nominations each. Shakira was nominated for best song, album of the year, best video, best composition and best album by a female solo artist for her ninth album “Fijación Oral Vol. 1.”

It is worth pointing out that “Wanna Ride,” the song the rapping duo recorded for the film “Take the Lead,” starring the renowned Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, is to be released soon.

The film, produced by Liz Friedlander for New Line Cinema, is based on the true story of ballroom dancing instructor Pierre Dulaine, played by Banderas, who volunteers to teach ballroom dancing skills to a group of Manhattan high school students.

The song was performed alongside the famous rappers Bone Thugs n’ Harmony and was produced by Swizz Beats, creator of hits for artists like Eve, DMZ, Jay-Z and JA Rule, among others.

The new product by this successful rap duo can be heard on the leading Latin American radio stations.

“This was our chance to make it to Hollywood, a place where we never dreamed of getting. We are sure that this piece of work will open other doors for our future projects,” the artists said in a press release.

“We have now focused our full energy on our concert, we made it to Hollywood, but now we’re getting ready for the Coliseo,” Wisin said then.
